Research & Planning - DoublePage Research

I didn't have much inspiration for my double page spread, i just knew that i wanted to have my model on the right on a separate page like most do and then this picture above gave me the idea of having a natural background covering both pages.

Research & Planning - Evalutaion

EVALUATION
Strengths
The layout is original and well thought of. The image I used (a college student) is a effective because it shows what the magazine is about/targeted to. Even though there is no title or cover line saying it is for college students, the reader can still understand it is for college students. The lanyard also helps he reader understand who the audience is. I also used a bar code, price and date on the magazine so the reader has little extra information on the magazine before they purchase it. I used the college logo at the top right of the page so the audience know which college the magazine is based on. The college website is running vertically on the right side of the page. I have also made the main image overlap the title so it makes the student stand out and give the magazine an effect which makes it stand out to the reader.
Weaknesses
The topics I chose could have been more directed to academic information. There are a few random colours, no theme. It would look better if the model was holding a book to associate more towards college. Also the banner is too big at the bottom. The plug isn’t as formal as I would like it to be.
What went well?
Overlapping different things including the title changes the look of the whole cover, it also makes the model stand out. The main image is a perfect image for a college magazine minor some adjustments which aren’t a huge problem.
Even better if…
All of the cover lines had a theme and weren’t just random colours and random shapes/sizes. The bar across the bottom portion of the page was smaller.
What id change?
I would make the cover lines all have a dedicated shape and colour/shade of colour. I would make them different angles and positions.  Same text/colour of text. I would also make the barcode smaller. I would make the plug less childish and more formal. I would make the cover line bar at the bottom smaller.
Conclusion

Over all I am pleased with my front cover, it has turned out exactly how I planned except from a few minor problems. I believe I have met all of the criteria but some pieces could be improved but it has all been met.

Research & Planning - College Magazine Analysis

The codes and conventions of this I'mage are: Image, Barcode, Price, Date, Subheading, Cover Lines, Masthead.
The mast head of the magazine is "COLLEGE" that is how i know it is a college magazine. The "MAIN IMAGE" of the the magazine is a girl who is a college aged girl. It has cover lines speaking about College terms like freshman. The target audience is a college aged student because it will have contents about college; College life, college stories.

Research & Planning - Film Review/Tutorial

I used indesign to create this film review and have made this in preparation for the future college magazine i will be making. I firstly created guides so columns helped me out with the layout of the magazine page. I then imported text which carried on in to each column. I then imported my image and stretched it out into an appropriate size which is different to the original. Then finally exported the file to a JPEG.
